ECOLODGICThe evolution of log buildings
Build process
Your lodge will start out life as Western Red Cedar trees grown in Canada, felled in strict accordance to sustainable management plans. These trees are then “peeled” – carefully stripped of branches and bark in such a way as to not uniform the log shape in any way – leaving the logs in a more characterful, natural form.
These logs are then graded and selected for suitability based on quality, size, shape and appearance. Only the best logs are selected for use.
The logs are then digitally mapped with the Ballmer Systems laser scanner for selection and position in the building design. Once approved for location and orientation, logs are then cut by robot, with a precision accuracy of 0.2mm.
The scanned and cut logs are then gasketted and pre-assembled as wall panels prior to shipping – saving work on site and speeding up construction times.
Your lodge arrives to site
in a container, pre-cut and ready to assemble. A crane or similar lifting device (depending upon site suitability) is used to unload the container and place the prepared parts onto your already built foundations.
We then assemble the
log shell structure,
SIPS floor, internal wall panels, doors, windows and roof.
The accuracy and efficiency of our process allows us to pre-plan and cut for fast construction on site, meaning less disruption and a much quicker construction completion time.
